Founded in 1989, Dean Maltz Architect is a New York based architectural and design firm that specializes in Commercial, Residential and Furniture design. Our practice has led us to design projects in New York City, New Jersey, Long Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Louisiana and Georgia. Project types have included Condominiums, Houses, Townhouses, Apartments, Lofts, Offices, Medical Suites, Retail Stores, Building Identity, Galleries, Showrooms and a Nightclub.
Our goal is to be responsive to our clients’ needs, while bringing a high level of design to every project. We respect the contexts we work in, fulfill project programs and integrate high quality design within budget. Our designs are a result of an abstract and independent search for conceptual clarity. The projects are not hampered by limitations of style, and remain respectful of the past without being imitative.
As both Architect and Designer we enjoy working at all scales of design from the site, to the building and through to the interior. We are accomplished Furniture Designers and have designed many pieces in production from by manufacturers located throughout the world. Manufacturers include Natuzzi, Dellarobbia, and Dune. Often we specify our furniture for our design projects and in many cases design custom furniture and furnishings for our projects. Product furniture categories include both upholstery and casework.
Projects have been published in books and periodicals. Professional recognition has come in published projects printed in magazines such as, Architectural Digest, Architectural Record, Interior Design and the A.I.A. publication, Occulus. Additional publications include: Departure Magazine, Room By Room: Country Interiors; Tile and Decorative Surfaces; Hospitality Design; Casa Brutus and The New York Times House and Home. We are an award winning firm having received a New York Chapter AIA Award and a Pinnacle Award from the American Society of Furniture Designers.
